New Tagline Will Beat Bud’s Current Theme

ST. LOUIS – ‘Nothing Beats a Bud’ for Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser brand is history, according to sources close to the brewer. A new theme is in the works and will probably be launched in a campaign coming out this spring from D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles/St. Louis. ‘Proud to be a Bud’ is not one of the lines being considered, as one published report suggested. A-B launched the tagline in 1990, but is looking for a new campaign to boost recession-weakened sales.
