Nielsen NetRatings, a Milpitas, Calif.-based Internet audience measurement and analysis firm, has announced a partnership with Goldman Sachs and Harris Interactive to deliver its 2001 Holiday E-Spending Report.

The report will track weekly shopping and buying attitudes of consumers on the Web. In an early study, data revealed that 63 percent of shoppers surveyed in the past week relied on brand awareness as the leading factor in making online purchases. In addition, initial findings from the survey showed that 69 percent of Internet users have not yet begun shopping for the holidays, indicating that the official start of the e-commerce holiday season has yet to begin.
