NEW YORK In a tacit acknowledgement that broadcast networks must step up their online presence to compete with Internet behemoths like Yahoo and Google, NBC Universal disclosed a bold push into the Web syndication business with the launch of nbbc—which stands for the National Broadband Company—a new open marketplace for video content producers and publishers that will result in NBC’s content being distributed on a wide variety of Web sites, potentially reaching more than 80 million users, officials said.
