Murro Takes Home DGA Award

NEW YORK Noam Murro won the Directors Guild of America’s award for outstanding directorial achievement in commercials on Saturday.

This is the first time Biscuit Filmworks’ Murro has won the award. He was also nominated in 2002 and 2003.

This year, Murro was nominated for three commercials: “Carry,” by TBWA\Chiat\Day in San Francisco for Adidas, showing Timberwolves basketball player Kevin Garnett carrying a mass of people on his back; “Glen,” by Fallon in New York for Starbucks, featuring the band Survivor following around an office worker; and “Toy Boat,” by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, showing the path of a child’s toy boat throughout the years.

Other nominees this year included MJZ’s Dante Ariola, who has also been nominated three times, and first-time nominees Anonymous Content’s Andrew Douglas, Hungry Man’s Jim Jenkins and MJZ’s Fredrik Bond.

Last year’s Outstanding Commercial Director was Anonymous Contents’ David Fincher.
