NEW YORK Microsoft’s MSN said that it has selected Fox Sports to replace its nearly 3-year-old sports-content partner ESPN in July.

The multi-year, multi-million-dollar alliance will combine Fox Sports’ online assets with MSN’s software and distribution reach. Also, Redmond, Wash.-based MSN will be the exclusive distributor and provider for all advertising on the co-branded site (Fox Sports on MSN), though Fox Sports’ broadcast sales team will continue to lead integrated offline-online ad packages. Under MSN’s expiring contract with ESPN, the Disney-owned sports property maintained control of its own ad inventory.
