MRM Tapped For St.John’s Account

NEW YORK-MRM Partners has been awarded the advertising account for St. John’s University, based in the New York City borough of Queens. The New York shop, a unit of McCann-Erickson WorldGroup, will also handle the school’s broader, strategic marketing needs. Billings on the account were undisclosed.

MRM prevailed after a review that included Wunderman and Draft Worldwide, both New York. Della Femina, Rothschild Jeary & Partners, New York was the incumbent agency and did not participate.

In a statement, Brenda Majeski, executive director of marketing and communications for the university, said, “St. John’s University has been looking for an integrated agency with proven strategic expertise. MRM Partners more than demonstrated that they can fulfill these needs.”

Founded in 1870 by the Vincentian community, St. John’s University has six schools and colleges. It offers associate, baccalaureate, master’s, doctoral and professional degrees. The University enjoys an enrollment of approximately 18,600 students and operates five campuses: in Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan,Oakdale, Long Island, and in Rome, Italy.

The school is also known for their Big East men’s basketball team. The Red Storm competes in Division 1 intercollegiate athletics.

Other MRM New York clients include Buick, Sprint, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Microsoft and Hallmark.
