MRM Hires McGee, Promotes Owens

BOSTON MRM Partners, the relationship-marketing arm of Interpublic Group’s McCann-Erickson, has named Joseph McGee evp, general manager of its New York headquarters.

McGee replaces Tracey Owens, who was named evp, worldwide account director on the agency’s General Motors business. Both McGee and Owens report to CEO Pamela Larrick and serve on MRM Partners Worldwide’s management board.

McGee will oversee business handled from the New York office, including GM, Black & Decker, Johnson & Johnson, Sprint and U.S. Airways. “I’m really looking to build on the success of MRM and its best-in-class creative and service to clients,” he said.

McGee, 40, joins MRM from BearingPoint—formerly KPMG Consulting—where he led its CRM Strategy practice for two years, overseeing customer-relationship initiatives for numerous Fortune 500 clients.

Before joining BearingPoint, McGee spent six years at WPP Group’s OgilvyOne in New York, which he joined in 1995 to lead worldwide direct marketing on its IBM Software business. In 2000, he was named worldwide executive group director on integrated strategy for IBM, overseeing all advertising, direct marketing and interactive marketing for the client. Throughout his career, he has worked for clients such as AT&T, AstraZeneca, Cisco, The Disney Co., Pfizer and Qwest Communications.

“Joe’s experience on both the agency and consulting side make him ideal to meet [all client business needs],” said Larrick, describing McGee as “can-do, driven and smart.”

In her new role, Owens will oversee all aspects of MRM’s worldwide GM business, working closely with Gary Neel, worldwide account director for GM at McCann.

Owens served for three years as general manager of MRM’s New York office. Since joining the agency in 1995, she also has been account group director on its Buick business and director of agency operations there. Before MRM, she spent a decade working on AT&T at OgilvyOne.
