MPA Doesn’t Compliment DDB’s Condiment

DALLAS DDB’s Tabasco print label campaign won a silver Kelly Award last year but did not place in this year’s Magazine Publishers of America competition.

This year’s MPA winners are Crispin Porter + Bogusky of Miami, which won the Grand Prize Kelly Award for its Mini launch campaign; Peterson Milla Hooks of Minneapolis, which received the Gold Kelly Award for its Target “Sign of the Times” series; and Campbell-Ewald Advertising of Warren, Mich., which was awarded the Silver Kelly for its Chevrolet “Lyrics” campaign.

The winners of the 22nd annual Kelly Awards were announced today at the Association of National Advertisers’ Print Advertising Forum in New York.

The Dallas office of Omnicom’s DDB was the only Southwest nominee among 25 finalists competing for the $100,000 grand prize. In addition to last year’s silver Kelly, the shop’s work for The McIlhenny Co.’s Tabasco won a gold at the 2002 national Addy competition and a bronze Lion at Cannes.

The Kelly Awards are presented annually to agencies whose magazine campaigns demonstrate both creative excellence and effectiveness. Senior-level magazine advertising clients and agency creative directors chose the finalists.
