On The Move: Southwest


Associate producer Andrea Font Hickham was recently promoted to producer at ProductionWorks, Houston.

DDB Interactive, Dallas, hired interactive designer Michael David Gonzales, formerly of Dallas shop McMann & Tate, and junior developer Salvatore Torneo, who was a CD-ROM developer for J.C. Penney Co., Plano. Also at DDB, account executive Jane Michels moved up to senior account executive, while audio and video technician Jon West was elevated to account executive. In addition, graphic designer Frances Ko graduated to junior art director and Kerrey Lucia shifted from production coordinator to producer at the DDB Needham Dallas subsidiary.

Xanthy Sotiriadis was tapped as art director at Saunders-Ream Advertising in Dallas. Sotiriadis served as art director and graphic designer for five years at another Dallas shop, Fitz & Floyd, and has worked for agencies in the U.S. as well as Zimbabwe.

Patrick LaPlatney is the new senior vice president of television for Metro Networks Inc. in Houston. LaPlatney, a senior vice president since 1989 with sports programming firm Raycom, will oversee the marketing and operations for MetroTV services, affiliate relations and product development.

Hadeler Sullivan Ewing Advertising & Marketing, Dallas, added Dan Calhoun as broadcast producer. Calhoun is an 11-year veteran with experience at B.A. Advertising and Levenson & Hill in Dallas. Hadeler Sullivan Ewing also hired designer Ryan Gagnard, who previously worked at Trinity Design in Lafayette, La., for its MonkeyHaus Design division, and shifted agency production and studio manager Caryl Johnson to the MonkeyHaus unit to serve in a similar role.

Staats, Falkenberg & Partners, Austin, appointed Jack Jones to the post of senior art director. Jones, who has been with Staats, Falkenberg since 1991, will work with clients such as Motorola, IBM and Tivoli Systems.

Russell Smith has joined the audio services team at Dallas post-production house Charlieuniformtango. Smith will specialize in the mixing, editing and production duties that he performed at his previous company, Real to Reel Studios, also in Dallas.

Lee Dellinger was hired at the Dallas office of Katz Media Group subsidiary Seltel as an account executive. Lee previously served as a senior account executive with KTXA-TV, the UPN affiliate for Dallas/Fort Worth.

Clint Swindall was assigned by Diamond Warkenthien Associates, San Antonio, to work on new account development and services. Swindall came to Diamond Warkenthien Associates after six years at Southwestern Bell, also in San Antonio.

Russell Lindley was appointed sales manager at SFX Broadcasting’s KODA-FM, Houston. Lindley, a nine-year veteran, was general sales manager at KTBZ-FM, Houston.

Richards/Gravelle, Dallas, added Suzanne Warthan and Carrie Schlesinger as account executives to serve on the Golden Corral account. Also, the company hired Kim Goodnough as an account coordinator.

Black Rogers Sullivan Goodnight, Houston, named Pat Bruni as media planner and buyer for its affiliate, Media U.S.A. Bruni returns to the advertising agency where he was vice president and media director in 1986. Bruni, who has 25 years of buying and planning experience, was most recently a broadcast buyer at JMM Group.


Littlefield Marketing & Advertising, Tulsa, has hired Martha Ely, formerly of Amoco Corp. in Tulsa, as accounting manager. The company also promoted Virginia Lloyd to media planner and buyer and Billy Kulkin to assistant account manager. Lloyd has 17 years of experience in media research, planning and purchasing. Kulkin, a business graduate of Arizona State University, joined Littlefield Marketing & Advertising last year as a media assistant.

Phillips & Johnson Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations in Tulsa appointed Heather LaBorde public relations account executive. LaBorde previously worked as a public relations specialist at marketing, advertising and public relations firm MarkeTech Associates of Dallas.
