Dan Gallagher, a former vice president of brand strategy and research at PhoneFree.com, joined Saatchi & Saatchi in New York as a senior vice president, group planning director—one of four at the agency. He will work on the General Mills account. Gallagher has held planning posts at J. Walter Thompson, McCann-Erickson and Ogilvy & Mather.

BBDO has added three new members to its worldwide board: Raymond So, the recently named chairman and CEO of BBDO Asia Pacific; Mike Vogel, chairman and CEO of PentaMark; and Peter Walker, the new chief financial officer of BBDO Europe. In all, the BBDO Worldwide Board comprises 18 senior executives. BBDO Worldwide is based in New York.

George Liggett was appointed senior vice president, New York finance director at D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles in New York, effective immediately. He reports to Lance Smith, president, global client managing director. Liggett replaces Nick Coniglio, who retired at the end of January after 35 years with the company. Liggett arrives at D’Arcy from Young & Rubicam, where he most re cently served as chief financial officer for North America. During his 15 years at Y&R, Liggett worked with clients such as Danone, Kraft, Philip Morris, DuPont and Sony.

TBWA\Health promoted Reema Vyas to director of account planning. She joined the agency in May 2001 as a senior strat egic planner, working primarily on the Pfizer and Alcon accounts. TBWA\Health is a unit of New York-based TBWA Worldwide.

Eric Mower and Associates named Rob Neiler a partner at the agency. As partner, Neiler, who is based in the Buffalo office, will take a lead role in new-business initiatives and continue his responsibilities as creative director, overseeing accounts that include Fisher-Price and Welch’s. In addition, Trish Kumlander joined EMA’s Ro ch ester office as an administrative assistant. She will work with the public relations team on various accounts, such as Upstate Farms, Bruegger’s Bagels, Computer Education Services Corp. and ExxonMobil Chemical. EMA also has offices in Syracuse, Albany, Portsmouth, N.H., and Atlanta.

Mike Levine was named chief operating officer of Van Wagner Sports Group’s new Sports & Entertainment division. He most recently served as vice president, business development for Sportscapsule. Van Wagner Sports Group is a division of Van Wagner Communications, which is based in New York.

The Intermedia Advertising Group in New York appointed Eric Gould chief financial officer. He most recently served as director of business development at Credit Suisse First Boston.

Molly Cole was named associate pub lisher for Rodale’s Organic Style and OG (formerly Organic Gardening) magazines. Cole, who is based in the New York office, most recently worked as director of consumer goods and services advertising at Good Housekeeping magazine.

Cable Scope in New York appointed George Hawkey manager of new business development. He previously was an account executive with Burst! Media.

Ryan Communications promoted Rebecca Therrien to program manager. She most recently served as an account executive at the Syracuse-based agency.

Suzanne Ruffa joined Wenner Media’s Us magazine as fashion/retail advertising director. She most recently served as the American fashion director at Vogue. Wenner Media is based in New York.


Lynn Hoban was named managing partner at The Star Group. She most recently was executive vice president, business development at the agency. The Star Group, which is based in Cherry Hill, also has offices in Philadelphia and Las Vegas.

DVC Worldwide made the following appointments. Chuck Fugger was named senior vice president, business development; he previously was at Prudential Insurance Co. of America. Edward Fritz was appointed vice pres ident, financial services; he most recently was at Health Quest. Illya D’Addezio was hired as vice president, information technology services; he formerly worked at A.M. Best. Michele Rao joined DVC as manager, general accounting; she previously was at MTV Networks. Eugene Lavenue was appointed a senior producer; he most recently worked at Athorn Clark & Partners. Patricia Borcherding arrived as an art director; she formerly was at PRMC Advertising. Jake Kovlacik joined DVC as a senior account executive; he most recently worked at Anheuser-Busch. DVC is based in Morristown.

The R&J Group hired Tori Wardell as media manager. Prior to joining the Parsippany-based agency, she was senior media planner at Brouillard Communications in New York.

The VB Group in Verona promoted Steve Alessandrini to director. He most recently served as a senior account supervisor.


Burgess Communications in Concordville named Cesar Varela art director. He previously was an art director at the D4 Creative Group.

David Culver joined Schubert Communications as director of public relations. He most recently served as senior vice president of public relations at Dudnyk Advertising in Horsham. Culver replaces Lisa Barbadora, who is on maternity leave. Bar badora plans to return to the Downingtown-based agency on a part-time basis to provide public relations and copywriting support.
