McKie/Headstrom PR in Milpitas hired Tim Yankey to lead wireless public-relations account services. Yankey was formerly director of product marketing at Metricom.

San Francisco-based Fineman Associates Public Relations added Barry Shiller to its management team. Shiller will initially be responsible for new-business development with an emphasis on public affairs and government relations, and will also provide strategic counsel to the agency’s clients. He was most recently svp of marketing at online auto startup CarClub.com.

Thielen and Associates in Fresno added Jennifer Medina as an account executive and Trisha Sumpter as an account coordinator.


JohnsonSheen Advertising in Portland added Jane Baker and Jacki Glavan as account supervisors. Baker had been an account supervisor/account director at KnollGroup in Portland. Glavan is a former account supervisor at Impiric (now Wunderman) in Chicago.


High-tech public relations firm The Ardell Group in Del Mar promoted Karina Wollesen to executive vice president. Wollesen, who returns to Del Mar after establishing the agency’s San Francisco office, is the first Ardell employee to hold that title. The shop also added Jenny Gilcrest as an associate account executive.

The MWW Group in Los Angeles hired David Herbst, former executive vice president of American Standard Development Co., as senior vice president.

Kintera, a San Diego-based provider of Internet marketing services for nonprofit organizations, added Susan Daniher as vp of product marketing. She had been vp of marketing at Express.com, an online DVD retailer. The company also hired Kelly Mc Mackin as managing director of sponsorships and promotions. She had been general marketing manager at KSWB Television/ Tribune Broadcasting Co. in San Diego.

Directing duo Will Speck and Josh Gordon and director/cinematographer David Wag reich have joined Los Angeles-based Omaha Pictures’ roster of commercial directors for exclusive commercial representation in the U.S. Speck/Gordon has worked on commercials for Ikea, UPN’s WWF coverage, Polaroid, Dunkin’ Donuts, Hershey and Auction Universe. Wagreich has experience working on spots for clients such as Target, Nissan, KPMG and Gaz de France.

Via Worldwide in Los Angeles named Heidi Bayer executive producer. She will oversee project management from inception to completion, including acquisition, strategic planning, marketing, creative development, post-production and client retention. Bayer was previously a freelance executive producer and account manager.

Los Angeles commercial and music video production company A Band Apart added director Olivier Venturini. His credits include work for Renault, Adidas, AT&T and American Express.

Matthews/Mark hired Heather Nichols-Nelson, an account planner with experience on brands such as Dell, Cisco, Boston Market and Kia Motors. She was previously an account planner at AKQA, formerly Citron Haligman Bedecarré, in San Francisco.

Mike Nash was hired as head seed planter (a role that equates to account supervisor) for The Orange Zone, the guerrilla division and youth ad unit of The T&O Group in Irvine. He was previously a senior account executive at McElroy: FCB.

Jon Krobot was promoted to sales manager of the Midwest region at Tribune Entertainment Co. in Los Angeles. Krobot, who joined Tribune Entertainment in 1997, was previously manager of the Western region.

Healthcare agency Point B in Newport Beach added Julie Browning as an account executive. She was most recently an account executive at Foote, Cone & Belding Healthcare West, where she worked on Toshiba America Medical Systems and Edwards Lifesciences.

Stephen McKenna joined BBC Technology in Los Angeles in the newly created position of sales director. His responsibilities will include overseeing all U.S. sales initiatives. He was previously global sales director for entertainment and media at Sun Microsystems.

Janet Bowden joined Aquent, a talent agency for creative print and Web professionals in Newport Beach, as business development specialist.

Medical/healthcare agency BGM-FMJ Healthcomm in Venice promoted Dan Hartford from account group supervisor to vp of client services and Bernadette Yeaton from associate account executive to account executive.
