Encoda Systems, Denver, appointed Michael Dunn global chief technology officer. Dunn vacates a post as corporate CTO for Time Warner. His duties will focus on advancing Encoda’s technologies in the media, entertainment, advertising and Internet sectors.


Coeur d’Alene-based Hanna & Associates added Matt Gilmore as a copywriter. Gilmore leaves the same position at the Launch Partnership, Dallas.


KPS|3 Advertising tapped Nicole Ryba as account liaison. Ryba leaves Boomtown Hotel & Casino, where she was marketing and media relations coordinator.


GMO/Hill, Holliday in San Francisco promoted MJ Rockers to svp, print production; Sam Wong to vp, director of accountability; Kim Ball and Patrick Godrey both to vp, group account director; and Darcie Iki to account supervisor.

San Rafael-based 360 Group pro moted Laura Davis to management supervisor and Amy Farrell to senior account supervisor.

FusionDM, San Francisco, has made five additions to its creative services and database services groups. Lotus Child joins as senior art director. Victoria Morrison and Christopher St. John assume the roles of senior copywriters, and Jeremy Grubagh is the new interactive designer. In database services, Andreas Bosch was hired as project manager.

San Francisco-based Cornyn + Partners promoted Mike McGinty from senior copywriter to associate creative director. His current projects include A.G. Ferrari Italian Markets, Regulus and Six Degrees Records.


Margot Stewart, Heidi Lauman and Amanda Combs have all joined Portland-based Koopman Ostbo. Stewart, formerly director of marketing strategy and implementation at Edamame Events and Marketing, was named account manager. Lauman was named graphic designer after working for Fred Meyer Jewelers and Plateau Design Group. Combs is an account coordinator whose experience also includes time at Fred Meyer.


Initiative Media, Los Angeles, appointed Suzanne Gilbert as vice chairman and chief financial officer. Gilbert leaves the Lowe Group, where she served as evp and worldwide CFO. Her other experience includes stints at Campbell-Ewald Advertising, Clinton E. Frank Advertising and Leo Burnett.

San Diego ad agency Bulldog Drummond promoted Sebastian Gomez to associate creative director. Gomez was previously an art director, working on accounts such as Genetic Shoes.

Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder, Newport Beach, created a new account team and expanded its media department. Barbara Wartman moves from account executive to account supervisor. Her experience at the company includes working on the Baja Fresh and California Pizza Kitchen accounts. Renee Craig, formerly of Alcone Market Group and PromoCity.com, joins the agency as an account executive. In the media department, Brent Barbour leaves YPM, Irvine, to be assistant media planner.

Studios USA Domestic Television promoted Tim Miller to vp, advertiser sales. Miller joined the company’s predecessor, MCA TV, seven years ago as a sales planner. Also, Mary Strabel was promoted from account executive to director of Midwest and West Coast advertiser sales. Prior to joining SUDT in 1998, Strabel spent time at Twentieth Television and CBS Television Network.

Kovel/Fuller, Los Angeles, hired art director Jason Johnson, formerly of Big Bang Idea Engineering.

Campbell Mithun, Irvine, promoted Danielle Gorsha to vp, account supervisor on the agency’s Verizon Wireless West Area account. Two other promotions round out the team servicing the account: Joyce Koch assumes the role of svp, creative director, and Julie Ward was promoted to svp, management supervisor.


Horton Lantz Marocco in Seattle named Phil Herzog director of brand strategy. The agency also hired George Jones as director of information technology, David Estep as a senior designer and Jules Maclachlan as an associate designer. Lisa Braedich was promoted to account man ager, and Heather Bruce was elevated to marketing coordinator.

Seattle-based Getty Images promoted Lewis Blackwell to svp, creative direction. Blackwell will be responsible for trend research, art direction and editing of the shop’s visual content. Blackwell’s experience includes time as editor-in-chief and publisher of Creative Review magazine.
