NEW YORK

Earle Palmer Brown hired Charles Jones as managing partner of its Bethesda, Md., office, where he is responsible for its overall operations. Jones returns to the EPB office where he served as the shop’s first general manager and vice president from 1990-96. For the past five years, he was svp of Equals Three Communications in Bethesda. EPB, which is based in New York, also has offices in Philadelphia, Washington and Stam ford, Conn.

Matt Heller, previously a group account director on Burger King at Lowe Lintas & Partners, recently joined McCann-Erickson in New York as a group account director.

The Advertising Council in New York named lawyer, banker and former civil rights leader Vernon Jordan, Jr. co-chair of the Ad Council’s Advisory Committee on Public Issues. He will co-chair the semian nual meetings of the Advisory Committee along with Brown University visiting professor Dr. Frank Newman. Jordan currently serves as managing director of Lazard Frères & Co. in New York.

Media Logic in Albany hired two new staffers. Jesse Jackson was named vice president of brand development and management supervisor; prior to joining the agency, he was the founder and president of Hood Communications, a creative marketing-consulting firm with an emphasis on brand development, advertising, creative and promotion in New York. Paul Fahey was appointed account supervisor; he previously worked as account supervisor at Fairbrother and Co. in Chatham.

Mark Lauer was hired as director of marketing and sales for The Waldorf-Astoria and The Waldorf Towers in New York. He replaces David Keys, who was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region, for Hilton Hotels Corp., the parent company of The Waldorf-Astoria. Lauer was most recently the general manager of the 413-room Doubletree in Omaha, Neb.

Ryan Communications in Syracuse tapped Rebecca Therrien as account executive. She most recently served as senior production coordinator for Fidelity Investments in Boston.

Scott Cooper Associates appointed Michael Stabile director of client services. Before joining the Melville-based integrated marketing-communications firm, he was an account supervisor at Grey in New York, where he worked on the Globalstar, 3M Corporate and Brown & Williamson accounts.

Howard Schwartz Recording in New York named George Moore executive radio producer. He previously worked at Young & Rubicam in New York.

NEW JERSEY

Gráfica in Chester appointed Benjamin Giles marketing manager; before joining the agency, he worked at companies such as MSGI Direct and Natural Building Systems. In addition, Deborah Failing was named account supervisor at Gráfica sister shop Gráfica inter.active; prior to joining Gráfica, she was an account supervisor with Middleberg 1.2.1.

PENNSYLVANIA

Beth Foley has joined MARC USA as a management supervisor in the Pittsburgh office. In her new position, she leads the agency’s work for UPMC Health System. She arrives at MARC from Dymun + Co., where she worked as director of client service.

Backe Communications in Ardmore appointed Melissa Dempsey media director, a newly created position. She formerly worked as a media supervisor at Earle Palmer Brown in Philadelphia.
