BSMG Worldwide, New York, has made the following appointments. Jack Leslie has been named chairman of the shop; he was previously president. The agency has also promoted three executives to vice chairmen of BSMG Worldwide, joining Ted Pincus, who remains a company vice chairman: Andy Polansky, formerly president and chief operating officer of BSMG Worldwide/New York, who retains his responsibilities for the agency’s New York operations; Barbara Molotsky, previously president of BSMG Worldwide/Midwest, who continues to oversee Midwest and Southwest operations; and Tim Sutton, formerly chairman of BSMG Worldwide’s European board, who retains those duties. Ed Powers, who was recently named chief operating officer, will also continue in that role as a member of the management team. As part of the restructuring, Harris Diamond, BSMG Worldwide CEO, assumes the additional title of president.
Worth Media has named Vin Cipolla CEO of Worth.com, the company’s new Internet and multimedia portal for the high-end market. Cipolla was previously CEO of TeleTech Holdings subsidiaries Pamet River, an Internet strategy and marketing firm, and Digital Creators, a Web-design and distance-learning company. He served as an officer at TeleTech and
continues to serve as a senior advisor to the company. W. Randall Jones, CEO of New York-based Worth Media, will serve as Worth.com chairman.
The Television Bureau of Advertising has named Christopher Rohrs president, effective Jan. 1. Rohrs, who is vice president, sales and marketing at Post-Newsweek Stations, succeeds Ave Butensky, who is retiring from his position and will remain a consultant with TVB, New York.
Gelia Wells & Mohr has hired one staffer and promoted another. Bob Janis was named senior art director; he was formerly at Moog Advertising, Buffalo, and at Moore Stickney Associates, Amherst. John Piatko was promoted to art director; most recently, he was junior art director at the Clarence shop.
Media First International has named Ed Weiner to the new position of senior partner. Weiner arrives at the New York-based agency from TBS Media Management, where he was senior vice president, director of media services.
Siegel & Gale in New York has named Peter Rae creative director at its European headquarters in London. Most recently, he was creative director and board director at Tango in London.
Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, New York, has hired three staffers. Jenifer Schmitz was named an account supervisor, overseeing public relations activities for Perrier, Della.com, Brooks Brothers and other accounts; most recently, she managed communications initiatives for various companies at Shandwick. Laina Minervino was named an account executive, providing communications support for ADP and other accounts; she was previously an account executive at Stern + Associates. Antonio Lima was appointed an assistant account executive, conducting day-to-day account work for ADP. Most recently, he was an intern at Franklin Covey.
Friedman, Harris+Partners has appointed David Melhado account manager, overseeing the Hauppauge agency’s new-business development in the travel-and-tourism industry. Most recently, he was director of sales at Todd Travel Promotions.
Bozell Global Healthcare has promoted Joanne Feldman to vice president, creative services. She was formerly partner, creative services, at the Fort Lee shop.
Linett & Harrison in Millburn has promoted Joanna Mendizabal to account supervisor. She was most recently an account executive at the agency.
Neiman Group has hired six staffers. Bonnie McCarthy was named senior account executive; she joins the Harrisburg shop from Chem-Nuclear Systems, where she was a public-information programs manager. Neal Goulet, a former business writer at the York Daily Record, was named public relations counselor. Laurie Frey was named assistant account executive; she was previously an advertising assistant at Marsh-McBirney. Cristi Casey was hired as media assistant; she was formerly an intern at the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape. And joining Neiman as assistant art directors are Tracy Nenna and Stephanie Fenton.
