- FLORIDA Cooper HMS Partners Advertising has made a series of personnel promotions and new hires. Howard Konig has joined the media department as senior vice president and director. Konig was previously associate media director at W.B. Doner & Co. in Detroit. Also in the Coral Gables agency's media department, senior media buyer Ken Weisberg, media planner Gary McLaughlin and assistant media planner Genevieve Gasse have come aboard, and Chris Wile was promoted from media supervisor to associate media director. In Cooper HMS Partners Advertising's creative department, Jim Doherty has joined the staff as associate creative director. Previously, Doherty was employed as a senior copywriter at J. Walter Thompson in Chicago. Keith Mallett has arrived as studio manager, George Edwards is the new print production manager and Arelys Palma has become a production artist. In the account services department, Suzanne Curtis has progressed from account director to vice president and Wendy Viciana was installed as assistant account executive. Carlos Figueras is the new information systems manager at the agency. Cox Target Media, the Largo-based direct mail marketing company whose products include Val-Pak, recently promoted five employees: vice president of information technology and support services Joe DeDominick; directors of marketing Hollis Perrin Thornton and Marty Leach; director of finance and strategic development Terry LeMaster; and director of business planning and development Bradley Barnett. Wendy Knowles has been named manager of promotions at Homestead-Miami Speedway, joining the racetrack from Major League Baseball's Florida Marlins, where she was marketing coordinator. FKQ Advertising and Marketing in Clearwater has hired Melissa Duckro as executive assistant. The Fort Lauderdale office of The Meridian Group Marketing Communications has recruited Steve Friedman as senior account manager, responsible for supervising various accounts as well as new business development for the Virginia Beach, Va.-based shop. Friedman was previously vice president of new business development at The Smith Agency, also in Fort Lauderdale. SmithAgency.com, previously The Smith Agency, has named Steve Rice director of public relations. Rice, who began his career as a South Florida morning drive- time radio personality at WAXY and has worked in television and the resort industry, is assuming his first agency post. The Fort Lauderdale shop also appointed E. Hope Cunningham and Jill Redmin associate media director and account supervisor, respectively. Cunningham comes from the local office of Young & Rubicam's The Media Edge, where she was media planner. Redmin arrives from Gardner Geary Coll & Young in San Francisco, where she served as account manager. Ed Scott has joined the staff of Clarke Advertising in Sarasota as public relations specialist, a new position. Previously, Scott was director of new media at the Observer-Times in Fayetteville, N.C. Ashleigh Slyker has advanced to director of account services at HLA Advertising and Public Relations in Tampa. Prior to the promotion, Slyker was an account executive. - GEORGIA Jackson Spalding has hired Hugh Suhr and Stephanie Quinn to address client growth and strengthen the company's financial services and sports public relations. Suhr was previously vice president of public relations at SunTrust Bank. He will work primarily with the Atlanta agency's financial clients, including National Bank of Commerce and CheckFree Corp. Quinn was previously marketing coordinator for the Chik-fil-A Charity Championship, a Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour event held in Atlanta. She will support the firm's sports practice as well as work on the Delta Air Lines account. In Atlanta, Hood Marketing Solutions has appointed Joseph Cattoni art director. Mark Perlotto has returned to Adair-Greene Healthcare Communications to head up the agency's healthcare division after a stint at Gerbig Snell/ Weisheimer in Columbus, Ohio. As vice president and managing director at the Atlanta agency, Perlotto will co-manage daily operations and report to president Rich Levy. Amy Henderson has been designated the new operations manager and post-production producer at Magick Lantern, a division of VanDerCloot Film Studio in Atlanta. The Atlanta division of Greenville, S.C.-based The Lewis Group has welcomed Jason Jones as multimedia specialist. Rountree Group in Atlanta has promoted two assistant account coordinators. Aimee Plant has moved up to assistant account executive and Beth Garland has progressed to account coordinator. - KENTUCKY Doe-Anderson Advertising and Public Relations has added four new employees and transferred one staffer. Kelly Brown has moved to the Louisville agency's public relations division as an assistant account manager, after working as print production coordinator since last January. George Wright has been hired as a public relations account manager. Nancy Murray has joined as a planner in account services. Brittany Johnson has been hired as an accountant in media payables. Nicole Barnum has come on board as an assistant account manager in the public relations division. - NORTH CAROLINA Nat Brookhouse has been promoted to vice president at the Charlotte office of Anderson Communications Group. Brookhouse helped launch that office of the Hilton Head, S.C.-based company and worked with clients such as Sea-Land, Crescent Resources and Fripp Island. Laura Wesp has joined Doggett Advertising in Charlotte as director of business development. Previously, Wesp was a public relations account executive at Corder Phillips & Wilson in Charlotte and at Campbell, Farley & Mansfield in Virginia Beach, Va. Myra Robinson has been hired as traffic coordinator at Coyne Beahm. Her primary account will be Lowe's Improvement Warehouse. Before joining the Greensboro agency, Robinson was a traffic coordinator at Nelson Communications in New York. West & Vaughan has enlisted Chris Ng Cashin as vice president and director of account planning, a new position at the Durham agency. Ng Cashin was a senior account executive at Leo Burnett in Chicago, where he worked on the Kellogg's Corn Flakes and corporate branding from 1995-97. Most recently, he was a planning partner at The Trinity Group, a marketing consultancy in Chapel Hill. PikeCassels Design/Marketing in Winston-Salem has added account coordinators Allison Lemons and Denna Holland, production artist Cathy Horvath, associate designer Kimbra Lile and proofreader Joan Wilcox to its staff. Sterrett Dymond Steward Advertising and Marketing has named Eric Rochsburg senior art director. Rochsburg, who joined the Charlotte agency in 1992 as an art director, has been recognized at the national One Show and other creative awards venues. In addition, Kelley Crater has been hired as production manager. Previously, Crater was employed as a graphic designer at Burke Communications, also in Charlotte. Becky Barnes has been promoted to senior planner at MRPP, where she has worked since the shop opened in 1992. Teresa Clark has joined the Cary full-service media agency as a buyer. - VIRGINIA Jason Thomas Smith has been appointed art director at Cortani & Morrison in Virginia Beach.
