TEXAS Gleason Calise Associates, Dallas, promoted account director Karl Ploeger to a vice president's post at the agency. Judy Lawson was hired as digital production artist and archivist at Witherspoon & Associates, Fort Worth. Previously, Lawson was a graphic designer at Southwestern Colorgraphics in Keene. She also worked as a technical illustrator for the Center for Occupational Re-search and Development in Waco. Ornelas & Associates, Dallas, hired account executives Laura Silva and Leah DeLaGarza, both formerly with Bromley, Aguilar & Associates, San Antonio. Silva was assigned duties on the Mobil account, while DeLaGarza will work on the shop's GTE business. Houston-based Metro Networks tapped Betty Berneman as vice president of marketing of Metro Source, a new information service unit of Metro. Berneman has been with the company since 1997, and recently served as U.S. marketing manager for Metro Source. Michelle Campbell was recently promoted to group sales director for the Impressions magazine group in the Dallas office of Miller Freeman. Campbell, who has been with San Francisco-based Miller Freeman since 1989, moved up from national sales manager to her new executive position. Siboney USA, Dallas, selected Max Lefeld as creative director, reporting to vice president and creative director David Hopson. Lefeld came to Siboney after serving as an associate creative director at Leo Burnett Venezuela. John Martin, formerly a producer with Looking Glass Films in Los Angeles, joined the staff of Inks Production Co. in Austin as staff producer. Martin will work on projects for clients Motorola, IBM and Arch Telecom. 501 Post, Austin, elevated nine-year employee Jim Reed to post-production supervisor and senior creative editor. EHR Design, San Antonio, added graphic designer Janet Sims. She was previously on staff at San Antonio's U.S. Global Investors in a senior designer position. Sims has also worked at Ernst & Young in Chicago. Steve Miller was named to the advisory board of the marketing research master's degree program at the University of Texas at Arlington. ARKANSAS Jud Davis recently joined the staff of Blackwood Martin/CJRW in Fayetteville as a promotional assistant. Davis' duties include developing consumer promotion plans for several Tyson divisions. He previously served as director of public relations and tourism for the Springdale (Ark.) Chamber of Commerce. Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods in Little Rock promoted media planners and buyers Laura McKinnon and Greg Harrison to senior media buyer and media supervisor, respectively. The agency also installed Crystal LaVoice as associate media buyer. LaVoice is a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Designer Clay Crymes and assistant designer Garnetta Sullivan have joined Thoma Thoma Creative, Little Rock. Crymes was a graphic designer for Alltel Corporate Services in Little Rock, while Sullivan was a freelance artist and photographer.
