Serena Duff has joined TBWA\ Chiat\Day in New York as a joint media director—one of two at the agency. Previously, she was an associate media director at Deutsch, also in New York.

Deborah Sullivan, executive vice president, director of broadcast production at DDB Worldwide in New York for two years, has joined FCB Worldwide in the same position. She replaces Herb Miller, who is leaving to pursue other interests. Sullivan will run the New York-based agency’s broadcast production department, reporting to executive vice president, executive creative director Rich Russo. Be-fore joining DDB, where she handled clients such as Dial, Mobil and Compaq, she was a founding partner and senior vice president at Berlin, Cam-eron & Partners and the former Fallon McElligott Berlin in the early 1990s. She has also worked at the former Hal Riney in San Francisco and N.W. Ayer in New York.

Post & Partners in New York has hired three staffers. Richard Ostroff was named executive vice president, as-sociate creative director at the shop, where he will work on TD Waterhouse and Am-ica Mutual Insurance Co.; he was working as a freelancer before joining the agency. Marilyn Marsh was hired as vice president, client relationship manager, working on Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Co., e-Maritz and other new accounts; she previously was account director at Lotas Minard Patton McIver. Dorothy Hagwood has arrived as client relationship manager, working on Amica Mutual Insurance Co. and other new accounts; she most recently worked in the corporate advertising department at Texaco.

Sage Marketing Communications has appointed Doug Johnston vice president of creative services. For two years prior to joining the Syracuse-based shop, he served as a creative and strategic consultant for various ad agencies throughout the U.S.

Thresh Creative Associates in Rochester has named two new art directors: Ann McAllister-Thomas, formerly of Coup D’Etat, and Michelle French, formerly of Roberts Communications.

David Stern was appointed managing director of FutureBrand in New York. He joins the global brand consultancy from Unilever, where he was president and CEO of Substance.com, the Unilever/iVillage joint venture.

Dennis Interactive in New York has promoted three executives. Justin Crawford was named creative director; he joined DI in 1997 after a freelance design career for cli- ents such as Amtrak (Acela), GE, Toyota and British Airways. Joe Johnson was ele- vated to executive producer; he formerly was senior producer. H. Alex Ruiz rose to director of digital business; he initially joined DI as a market strategist.

Phase2Media has named Celeste Harwell vice president, East Coast advertising sales in the company’s New York office and Thomas Vorisek di-rector of advertising sales in its San Francisco office. Harwell joins New York-based Phase2Media from Cybuy, where she was director of merchant acquisition, overseeing product marketing and sales to both advertisers and Web sites; Vorisek was formerly regional sales manager for Engage Media, where he was responsible for the Southwest territory.

Zaphealth.com, a Web provider of health-related information for the Internet generation, has hired Lowell Geiger as senior vice president/managing director, a new post. Before joining the New York-based company, she served as advertising sales director at Riffage.com, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based MP3 downloadable music site for teens and college students.

Booz•Allen & Hamilton in New York has appointed Michael Bulger director of public relations for its worldwide commercial business. He formerly was a senior vice president at Robinson, Lerer & Montgomery.

Maggi Vale was named senior account manager at Travel + Leisure magazine in New York, effective immediately. She is responsible for total category development and account management of New York City hotels and restaurants, in addition to other New York-based accounts and the mid-Atlantic region, among other duties. She was previously vice president, director of client services at O’Leary Clarke & Partners.

Platinum Design in New York has hired two new staffers and promoted one. Patricia Kelleher has arrived as associate art director; she was previously senior designer of Food & Wine magazine. Tracey Wagener was named a graphic designer; she is a recent graduate of the Portfolio Center. Andrew Taray was promoted to senior de- signer; he was formerly a graphic designer.

Michael Eastwood has joined Eyeballnyc as executive producer. Prior to joining the New York-based design and production boutique, he spent the past five years with Blah! BLAH? (Blah … ) in New York, which represents commercial-production, design and animation companies.

Media Logic has named Jennifer Freeman public relations account executive. Before joining the Albany-based agency, she was a legislative associate in the New York State Assembly Majority Leader’s Office.

Open Frame Productions in New York has signed director Philip Kates for exclusive U.S. representation. Prior to joining the production company, he was at Headquarters.

Worth magazine has promoted Dru Warner to marketing director, a new position. She previously was marketing manager at the New York-based magazine.

Melissa Brown was named consumer products manager for SELF magazine, effective Nov. 29. She arrives at the New York-based magazine from Outside magazine, where she was the fashion and travel manager.


The Sawtooth Group in Woodbridge has appointed Joe Siano vice president, media director. He joins the agency from Initiative Media Worldwide in New York, where he managed media planning and placement for Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill, AT&T Broadband, Trader Joe’s and LendingTree.com.

Les Trinity has joined Gillespie’s advertising division as junior art director. Prior to arriving at the Princeton-based agency, he was at Hill, Holliday in New York, where he served as senior production artist.


MARC USA/Pittsburgh has expanded its broadcast team with two new staffers. Erin Holmes was named senior associate producer; she is responsible for producing radio and TV commercials and corporate videos at the Pittsburgh shop. Judy Evans was appointed traffic manager; she oversees the preparation of MARC’s commercials to radio and TV stations.

HMS Hallmark Ltd. in Pittsburgh has hired Maria D’Abruzzo as an account su- pervisor, working on Carnegie Science Center, Kings Family Restaurants, Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Wintergreen Resort and WPGH-TV. Before joining the agency, she was vice president of marketing for Howard Hanna Real Estate Services.

Trinity Communications has promoted Bernadette Cosgrove to account executive; she will be responsible for managing and developing professional marketing programs for Schering-Plough/Key Pharmaceuticals. She was formerly associate account executive at the Conshohocken-based shop.
