Rich Smyth has been promoted from vice president and director of advertising to vice president and publisher at Southern Living magazine, which is published in Birmingham. Greg Keyes has been named senior vice president and will oversee sales, marketing and custom publishing operations at the consumer periodical. Sister publication Southern Accents has appointed Courtney Cook account manager on its New York sales staff. Oxmoor House, the books division of the magazines’ parent Southern Progress Corp., has tapped Brian Carnahan vice president and publisher.


St. John & Partners Advertising & Public Relations has hired Bruce Ligon as vice president and director of its media services department. Prior to joining the Jacksonville-based agency, Ligon was director of media at WestWayne in Atlanta and Trone Advertising in Greensboro, N.C. Ryan Ali, a recent Florida State University graduate, has joined the shop as a media planning assistant. Katie Heimke has moved up to art director in the creative department.

Teasdale Enterprises of Arts and Media has made two executive promotions. David Hickman has progressed to vice president and creative director. Sue Pospishil is now vice president of marketing at the Tampa agency.
