In Virginia Beach, MC Direct has assigned Paula Wells to its regional headquarters as an account supervisor.


Joe Stanton has been named vice president for government affairs at the Beer Institute, a national trade association for the brewing industry. Stanton will be responsible for heading the institute’s legislative strategies unit .

At U.S. News & World Report magazine, Brian Kelly has been promoted to managing editor. Kelly, who was the publication’s assistant managing editor, will now manage the business and technology sections of the periodical. Former senior writer Jodie Allen has become assistant managing editor, supervising business and technology. Masha Gessen has joined the newsweekly as Moscow bureau chief, and Michael Schaffer has been assigned to national news as an associate editor.
