FLORIDA Bob Shiffrar has been named creative director at FKQ Advertising in Clearwater. Shiffrar comes to the agency from Arnold Advertising in Boston. The shop also promoted three staff members: John Sparks to executive creative director, Michael Grouse to senior media buyer and planner, and Linda Stanley to administrative assistant. Crispin Porter & Bogusky in Miami has added Reed Carlson as a media supervisor on its Florida anti-tobacco account. The agency also hired the creative team of Alex Burnard and Renato Floresca as well as graphic designer Jean-Paul Picard. Alexander Noyes has been appointed information technology advertising sales manager at Editorial Televisa in Miami. Miami-based Zubi Advertising has added Roberto Abad as an account supervisor. Abad will work on the S.C. Johnson account and new business development. Accentmarketing in Miami has recruited Gloria Mari as new business and public relations coordinator. Doug Oakes has been designated creative director of the Orlando office of LMS/MARC Advertising. Oakes previously work at shops in Jacksonville and Atlanta. Cherie Faircloth Rodriguez has been promoted to vice president and media director of the Orlando office of Hallmark/Tassone. Gonzalo Gonzalez has joined the staff of BVK/Meka as an account supervisor. Gonzalez will oversee the advertising account services area, as well as the public relations department of the Miami-based agency. The shop also installed Michelle Fernandez as an account executive on the advertising side. GEORGIA Susan McBurney has arrived at Hayslett Sorrell in Atlanta as a communications counselor. Two hires have been made in the public relations group of Atlanta ad agency Sawyer Riley Compton. Nancy Hood has been added as a senior public relations counselor and Christina Taylor has been hired as an assistant public relations counselor. Carla Hill has become an associate at Atlanta-based Hollingsworth, Colborne & Associates. Roy Communications in Atlanta recently promoted Karon Rogers to vice president of account services. Fleishman Hillard in Atlanta has added three senior vice presidents to head up its healthcare, public affairs and investor relations departments. The new executives are: Sherry Treco-Jones, Karen Kaplan and Janice Kuntz. Todd Schaffer recently joined Fizz City in Atlanta as a partner and executive producer. Kor Media in Atlanta has recruited Mark Pettit as executive vice president and partner. Pettit has also been elected to the agency's board of directors. 11th Street Post in Atlanta has hired James Cool as marketing director and Bob Woodhead as senior video production supervisor. MARYLAND Sass & Associates in Annapolis has added Karen Morrison to its marine account marketing staff. In addition, the agency has appointed Jeri Mahan to the post of media director. William Peterson has been named creative director at Freed and Associates in Baltimore. Glenn Maiorano has become associate publisher of Government Computer News in Silver Spring. Jennifer Deak has joined the staff of The Reeves Agency in Baltimore as a junior traffic manager. SOUTH CAROLINA Three new employees have joined the ranks at Anderson Communications Group in Hilton Head. Patrick Hnath has been brought in as an art director, Jamie Cobb as a senior writer and Gail Abbott as traffic manager. Jill King has been promoted to the post of production manager as well. Erwin-Penland in Greenville has hired Nika White as a junior account executive to assist on the Bell Atlantic Mobile business. TENNESSEE Danna Bailey has joined Advertising & Communication Associates in Chattanooga an an account executive working on the Krystal Co. business. John Brunner has been hired as an account executive at Gish, Sherwood & Friends in Nashville. The agency also employed Terry Harrigan as an assistant account executive. The Buntin Group in Nashville has welcomed Christy Parks as an accountant. Parks was formerly with Intermedia Television Advertising. TEXAS Roy Clason was appointed vice president of corporate communications at Dell Computer Corp. in Round Rock. Prior to joining Dell, Clason served as vice president of global communications for MasterCard International in New York. The Point Group in Dallas has recruited senior account executive Richard Taylor to manage its corporate and crisis communications unit. The agency also promoted public relations editor Kevin McKeever to senior account executive in its business-to-business communications department. Taylor most recently was senior account executive at BSMG/Southwest in Irving. Shana Sonnier was elevated to promotion director at KRBE-FM in Houston. Sonnier has been a programming assistant at the radio station since 1996. VIRGINIA Amy Golden has been named vice president of new product development at Time-Life's book unit in Alexandria. Peggy Englert has been assigned as an account executive at Hambright Calcagno & Downing Advertising and Public Relations in Virginia Beach. The Martin Agency, which is headquartered in Richmond, recently added eight employees to its headquarters operation. The newcomers are: financial managers Ben Cox and Emily Baldridge, project manager Kelley Murray, account executive Mark Rockett, broadcast assistant Renee Shortell, account coordinator Charlie Guthridge, studio artist Julie Lamb and project coordinator Melissa Shaheen.
