Motorola Introduces Manifesto

Motorola on Tuesday introduced a new tagline: “Intelligence Everywhere,” as well as a “manifesto” aimed at positioning the company as the center of digital convergence.

The statement, issued at the CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association) Wireless 2001 show in Las Vegas on Tuesday, is the first new branding work since Motorola gave Ogilvy & Mather, New York, its estimated $400 million account last September.

“Something big is happening,” the manifesto starts. “Houses are talking to computers. Magazines are talking to wireless phones. Cars are talking to the Internet…One company is at the heart of making it happen. Motorola.”

A Motorola rep said the manifesto will launch Motorola’s new branding campaign. The campaign comes as the company’s stock price has fallen more than three-fold over the past year thanks to slowed sales of its wireless handsets and microchips.
