More Foodstuffs for Buntin

Last month The Buntin Group landed Cracker Barrel restaurants’ outdoor advertising account. This month the agency is bringing home the bacon.
Sausage purveyor Odom’s Tennessee Pride has stayed close to home, hiring the Nashville, Tenn., shop as agency of record for its $3 million account.
“I’d first talked with [Buntin] about three years ago, and have talked with them off and on for that long,” said Norman Bessac, Odom’s marketing director.
Bessac noted the Madison, Tenn., company has used various shops for project assignments, most recently Harwood Marketing of Dallas for consumer promotions and Media Partners in Memphis for all media planning and buying. Buntin will now assume all those duties.
“They were ˆ la carte-ing it around, so to speak, but we were sure to stay in touch,” said the agency’s chief executive officer, Jeffrey Buntin Sr. “One thing that I know influenced him was that we did a lot of work for Rudy’s Farm Country Sausage, opening the [Los Angeles] market for them. We’ve got that category experience and we’ve got grocery and retail experience from our Kroger business.”
“They have an understanding of how our business works and how it goes through to the consumer,” Bessac said. He added that the shop’s Tennessee location was “a plus, but not a requirement.”
Because of seasonal sales fluctuations in Odom’s business, Buntin said new creative work will not break until late next year.
