Monster Hires BBDO’s Gilvar as Global Marketing Officer

Monster Worldwide today named Ted Gilvar as evp and chief global marketing officer to oversee the company’s global marketing strategy, advertising and branding initiatives.

Monster Worldwide is the parent of Monster.com, an online job search firm largely credited for introducing the idea of dot-coms spending big on Super Bowl advertising. It spent $55 million on media last year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Gilvar comes to Monster with extensive knowledge of the company’s marketing initiatives, having directed the recruitment firm’s business in his most recent role as evp and senior director at ad agency BBDO.
 
At BBDO, Gilvar was responsible for leading the business of multiple clients and mounting successful ad campaigns, re-branding programs and product launches. Hs client roster included Monster, the National Football League, Target, Guinness and Red Stripe for Diageo, per Monster. Gilvar lead Monster’s “Your Calling is Calling” campaign, and was part of a team that helped win the Monster account for the agency.
 
“Over the past several months Ted has been engrained in our organization, imparting his vast marketing and branding expertise to help further Monster’s mission to inspire people to improve their lives,” Sal Iannuzzi, Monster’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “We look forward to his continued contribution to evolving the Monster brand.”

Prior to BBDO, Gilvar held leadership positions at Hill/Holliday, Mullen and McKinney & Silver. He started his career also at an ad agency, Saatchi & Saatchi.
