The statewide association that represents Mississippi’s two dozen-plus casinos will consider awarding a multimillion-dollar contract to a Jackson, Miss., marketing research firm without holding a review, the group’s president said.
The Mississippi Gaming Association will consider hiring Dan Davis’ Southern Research Group at its monthly meeting on Wednesday to spearhead a campaign to educate state voters about the industry, said Lee Witherow, MGA president.
A loose-knit, grass-roots group of anti-gaming, Christian activists has filed a citizens petition with the state to add a question to the November 1999 ballot that would give voters the right to amend the constitution and outlaw gaming in Mississippi.
The MGA filed a lawsuit protesting that first initiative.
