Mindshare Wins Rent-A-Center

Mindshare won media planning and buying responsibilities for Rent-A-Center in the U.S. and Puerto Rico after a four-month review that included the incumbent OMD and other undisclosed agencies.

Media spending on the business in 2011 was $31 million, according to Kantar. The assignment for the WPP GroupM media unit covers duties for traditional broadcast TV and radio. Mindshare will handle the business out of its N.Y. office,

RAC, based in Plano Texas, provides customers with furniture, electronics, appliances and computers through rental purchase agreements. The new partnership includes the involvement of GroupM company, TMEX, which is a corporate trading company that works with clients to exchange unsold goods, or other assets, for ad time.
