Midas Will Look Beyond Chicago Agencies

CHICAGO Cliff Freeman and Partners will be invited to defend its creative duties for Midas as the client begins a $40 million account review, a company representative said.

The New York agency won the Itasca, Ill., automotive repair chain’s business in October 2001, becoming Midas’ fifth shop since 1995.

Work by the incumbent, whose “We do that”-tagged television spots included one with an elderly woman flashing her breasts, was not without its critics.

The review will not be restricted to Chicago-area shops, and no consultant is involved, the representative said.

This year’s media schedule is limited to radio and national TV promotional spots. Carat in New York continues to handle media.
