MGH Adds Another Papa John’s Co-op

ATLANTA MGH has acquired the media buying duties for the Atlanta co-operative of the Papa John’s Pizza chain without a review, the shop said.

The Atlanta group consists of 98 locations and is the company’s largest co-op of franchisees.

Independent Atlanta shop Fitzgerald + Co. was the incumbent. MGH, an independent agency in Baltimore, will begin buying media for the co-op in the third quarter of this year.

Beginning with the Philadelphia co-op in 1999, MGH now provides media buying for 30 Papa John’s co-ops with more than 600 restaurants. The shop has twice been named the Louisville, Ky., company’s agency of the year.

The shop provides media buying for other franchises including Epic, which has 1,000 pharmacies in 21 states, and Sylvan Learning Centers, which has offices in 11 markets.

“Our proprietary approach to co-op, franchise and multi-location retail media buying has served clients such as Papa John’s, Epic and Sylvan extremely well over the years,” said Jane Goldstrom, media director at MGH.

Papa John’s is the nation’s third-largest pizza chain with 2,926 locations in 49 states, the District of Columbia and 17 nations. The company also franchises 113 Perfect Pizza restaurants in the United Kingdom.

Billings on the account were not disclosed.
