MFP Withdraws From HMO Review

NEW YORK Margeotes Fertitta Powell has pulled out of the review for HIP Health Plan of New York’s $10 million account, citing workload, according to an agency representative.

It is the second shop to withdraw from the pitch. Independent ML Rogers in New York withdrew before finalists were chosen.

Still in contention are Interpublic Group’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos and Gotham, both in New York, sources said. It was unclear if the client would choose a semifinalist to replace MFP in the final round. New York consultancy Roth Associates did not return calls.

Eliminated from contention earlier this month were independents Korey Kay & Partners, Pedone & Partners and Gardener Nelson & Partners, all in New York, as well as the incumbent team of Park South and RJ Palmer.

The finalists have been briefed and presentations are scheduled for mid-October, with a decision due shortly thereafter.

MFP won the $15 million Perry Ellis account earlier this month.
