Merkley Taps Serenska in New Biz Role

NEW YORK — Merkley Newman Harty & Partners has tapped former account executive Susan Serenska to succeed Steve Bowen as director of new business development in New York.

Serenska, 39, most recently was director of client services at Lowe Consumer Healthcare in New York. Before that, she held senior account posts at Foote, Cone & Belding and Bozell, working on brands such as Colgate and Nabisco. At Merkley, Serenska reports to chief marketing officer Lou Killeffer.

The post had been vacant since May, when Bowen became president of sister shop BaylissCronin in Atlanta. Bowen had managed new business efforts since 1997.

This year, Merkley has added new business from Health Net of the Northeast and SBC Communications. Its healthcare division, MNH Healthworks, also landed a new arthritis drug from Novartis. Currently, Merkley is a finalist in TAP Pharamaceutical Products’ $100 million Prevacid review, along with Deutsch, McCann-Erickson and Ogilvy & Mather (Adweek Online, Aug. 6).
