When kicking off a discussion about improving diversity in artificial intelligence—specifically increasing the number of Black women present in the industry—Angle Bush was blunt. “There has not been significant progress,” she said.

Still, Bush, who founded Black Women in A.I. last year to address the underrepresentation she’d been witnessing in her field, is encouraged by the work of organizations actively promoting diversity in the tech world.
