MediaCom Reorganizes TV Buying Group

NEW YORK MediaCom said it has reorganized, dividing oversight of its national TV buying group among four managing directors who will all report to chairman Jon Mandel and CEO Dene Callas.

MediaCom’s new managing directors of national television are: Stacy Sullivan, Michel Krumper, Pam Gibbons and Todd Gordon.

New York-based MediaCom is a unit of Grey Global Group, which has agreed to be acquired by London-based holding company WPP Group.

The move follows the departure today of MediaCom evp, director of national broadcast Peter Olsen, who becomes svp of ad sales for A&E Network and The Biography Channel.

In a related development, AETN said it has divided its ad sales division into three teams under vp Mel Berning. In addition to Olsen, AETN veterans Brian Granath and Robert Edney were named vp of ad sales for The History Channel, History International and The History Channel en Espanol and vp of sales strategy and development, respectively. Edney, who joined AETN in 1998, will oversee new business including interactive, online sales and video-on-demand services.

In addition, Michael Peretz becomes vice president of the integrated ad sales and strategic partnerships group reporting to senior vp Melinda McLaughlin.

“I am delighted Peter has joined our team. His years of experience and relationships throughout the industry will help us capitalize on all the ratings success A&E Network has had this past year,” said Berning. “Brian Granath, who was instrumental in making The History Channel a huge success with advertisers, was a natural choice to head up The History Channel team.”
