MediaCom Names Global Trading Chief

MediaCom, a GroupM agency, has named Dominic Guba its first global head of trading.

Guba (shown) joins from Aegis Media, where he most recently held the position of head of global trading and before that, vice president of investment management.

Reporting to Juergen Blomenkamp, global head of GroupM trading, and Christian Schmalzl, chief operations and investment director of MediaCom, Guba will be responsible for optimizing MediaCom’s buying performance across all markets. He will be based in London.

He will also work closely with the GroupM trading community to ensure consistency of trading across the group. His role will also include developing and implementing trading models and tools, with a focus on improving the network’s processes and procedures.

Schmalzl said: “I am delighted to welcome Dominic to our team. His vast experience in multinational media investment management and analytics will undoubtedly bring us even better consistency to our network globally.”

Corporate trading has been more in demand since the downturn in the economy got under way in 2008. The practice involves swapping unsold inventory and other underperforming assets for ad credits.
