MediaCom Hires New Print Exec

Valerie Muller, an accomplished print-media specialist, is joining MediaCom on June 19 as senior vice president, print services.
She replaces Steve Greenberger, who left the Grey Global Group media agency in March for a top marketing post at Rolling Stone magazine.
“The depth of Valerie’s experience at both full-service agencies and media independents makes her a perfect fit at MediaCom,” said Alec Gerster, chairman of MediaCom. MediaCom, New York, is one of the most active print buyers in the U.S., spending an estimated $500 million in the medium for clients every year.
Muller, who joined MediaCom from Pedone & Partners in New York, where she was senior vice president/media director, has more than 25 years of experience on the media side at shops such as McCann-Erickson, the former Backer & Spielvogel and Margeotes Fertitta & Weiss, and DeWitt Media (now Optimedia), among others.
Muller said her new post “is a plum of a job for me,” adding that she was looking forward to “working for a company that is on record as wanting to change and really underlie their leadership position in the market.”
MediaCom’s new print maven also expressed enthusiasm for returning to the medium she favors above all others. “My advocacy is for print,” she said, “and being able to concentrate on [that] one area versus all of [the other media] is going to enable me to come up with some unique answers to problems.”
