MDC Bows Initial Hartford Push

McLaughlin, Delvecchio & Casey has unveiled its first work touting Connecticut’s capital city, Hartford, as a desirable destination for tourists and businesses.

Nicky McHugh, a Mc-Laughlin, Delvecchio representative, said, “Our research indicates people drive through Connecticut. We’re trying to get people to stop here.”

The New Haven, Conn., shop has created posters and promotional materials for the Hartford Image Project, a collaboration of local organizations that aims to promote Hartford as a tourist, residential and business destination. Members include the city government, the Greater Hartford Tou-rism District, the Hartford Economic Development Commission, the Greater Hartford Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Greater Hartford Arts Council and the Office of Tourism.

One poster shows the storefronts of 30 three- and four-star restau-rants. Text at the top reads, “Where’s a great place to eat?” At the bottom of the page is the new logo, along with the tagline, “Hartford: New England’s rising star.”

The posters are displayed in businesses throughout the region. A 30-second TV spot with the same theme is now in production, with work overseen in-house by the Greater Hartford Tourism District.

Consulting with McLaughlin, Delvecchio on brand strategy was the O’Neal Group, based in Durham, Conn.
