Tongues wagged when McCann-Erickson’s Tom Lawson showed up in Boston recently for a series of meetings with Arnold Fortuna Lawner & Cabot. Lawson is the managing director of M-E’s Universal Group in New York which handles numerous McDonald’s co-ops around the country.
Could it be the two agenciess – M-E and AFL&C – would be getting together under a McDonald’s banner in a more formalized way? Was the Mergermeister, AFL&C chairman/ceo Ed Eskandarian, preparing to do another deal?
Lawson told ADWEEK he was in Boston to discuss ‘sectional advertising for McDonald’s in the Northeast.’
