McKinney Snares Lands End

CHICAGO — Catalog and retail company Lands End picked McKinney & Silver to handle its $20 million advertising account after a review.

The Raleigh, N.C., shop bested Minneapolis agency Carmichael Lynch and The Richards Group in Dallas for the business. The account had been briefly with Element 79 in Chicago. Prior to that it was with DDB Chicago, but a conflict arose after Sears Roebuck and Co. bought Lands End for $1.9 billion in July. DDB handles J.C. Penny’s $200 million advertising account.

McKinney’s responsibilities will include print and broadcast creative across all aspects of the Dodgeville, Wis., company’s business, including Internet and new business such as women’s “extended” sizes, licensed products and children’s wear. The shop’s first work is expected in early 2003. The review was handled by the Rojek Cutcher Group in Cleveland.
