McDonald’s Sponsors Olympic Day Run

CHICAGO McDonald’s Corp. has become the exclusive worldwide sponsor of the Olympic Day Run, an annual global event.

The run was created to celebrate Olympic Day, June 23, which commemorates the founding of the International Olympic Committee. The event takes place this weekend in more than 150 countries.

McDonald’s will have a presence at all local events and will assist the National Olympic Committees with local marketing efforts and runner registration and celebrations.

The sponsorship was announced during last week’s worldwide marketing summit for the Oak Brook, Ill.-based fast food chain. At the summit, McDonald’s marketing executives also unveiled the new “I’m lovin’ it” marketing theme.
