NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s McCann Erickson is set to hire Bill Oberlander from WPP Group’s Ogilvy & Mather, sources said.

Oberlander will become an executive creative director at the shop, reporting to Joyce King Thomas, who was named two weeks ago as chief creative officer of McCann in New York. She replaced Nina DiSesa, who was in the job for 10 years. DiSesa retains the chairman’s title.

Oberlander had been at Ogilvy in New York since 2001, where he was a senior partner, ecd and most recently worked on the shop’s Motorola business.
