McCann Adds Creatives

McCann-Erickson here has bolstered the ranks of its senior creative directors by hiring three staffers to help on accounts such as MasterCard, Gateway, and Marriott.
The newcomers include Chris Van Oosterhout, previously an art director at TBWA Chiat/Day here. He is reunited with Joyce King Thomas, his former colleague at the defunct Wells Rich Greene, on the $100 million MasterCard business.
Thomas was recently promoted to one of three deputy creative director slots at the agency. The three deputies and five group creative directors report directly to Nina DiSesa, executive creative director for McCann’s $1 billion New York office.
Van Oosterhout, who starts today, will also have supervisory duties on Marriott and Coca-Cola’s PowerAde, reporting to Thomas.
Also reporting to Thomas and starting today is Sherry Pollack, the new senior creative director on the $150 million Gateway business, a more recent agency win. Pollack spent the past decade at Ogilvy & Mather on Jaguar and Nynex.
Lisa Mirchin, who starts next week, will be a senior creative director on the $20 million Ferrero account. She will work with senior creative director Linda Thibodeau, who had been paired with a more junior staffer. Mirchin, who will report to group creative director Steve Ohler, worked on the DeBeers account at J. Walter Thompson here.
“These great hires [will build] this layer and hopefully allow everyone in the department to do their best work,” said DiSesa.
There are now 13 senior creative directors in New York.
