McCain Pulls Tongue-In-Cheek Ad Starring British Drag Queen Baga Chipz

Earlier this year, McCain Foods enlisted performer and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Baga Chipz as its “creative director.” Now, the brand has pulled one of the ads following complaints from the public of “misogynistic” and “offensive” language.

Over 170 people so far have complained to the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) about the “Anything Goes” campaign.

The push, from We Are Social, was launched by the brand in June. It saw Chipz enlisted to front a series of relatable spots showing how to bring a bit of flair to midweek meals.

At the heart of the complaints was a now withdrawn paid social ad, which showed the self proclaimed “Queen of Chips” crafting a self-portrait using food.
