Mazda Names Marketing SVP

LOS ANGELES Mazda North American Operations said Monday that Brian Colianni has been named to the newly created position of svp, sales and marketing. Colianni was previously MNAO’s vp, customer service and parts operations.

Prior to joining MNAO in February 2004, Colianni was global business strategy and planning manager for Ford’s customer service division. Replacing Colianni is Shusuke (Kory) Koreeda, who previously was Irvine, Calif.-based MNAO’s vp of product marketing.

Mazda spent $265 million on measured media in 2004, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus. Independent Doner, also in Irvine, is Mazda’s lead agency.

“These senior executive changes represent another significant step in the strengthening of our North American team,” Jim O’Sullivan, MNAO president and CEO, said in a statement. “With numerous all-new and refreshed products coming in the next 18 months, I’m counting on Brian’s 25 years of auto industry experience and management skills to help build even greater awareness and familiarity for Mazda and our vehicles.”
