Maxus Names Global Trading Chief

WPP’s Maxus has appointed Alan Hodge to the new position of global trading director, the shop confirmed.
Based in London, Hodge (pictured) will report to Maxus global CEO Kelly Clark and Juergen Blomenkamp, the worldwide head of GroupM Trading.
The post was created to ensure communication and alignment between the agency and WPP media agency management arm GroupM. Hodge’s appointment is effective Sept. 1. 
Maxus is the third GroupM unit to create a worldwide trading director post in recent weeks.
In early June, sister shop MEC appointed Keith Tiley global director of trading, reporting to agency worldwide COO Alastair Aird and Blomenkamp. Tiley is also London based.
A few weeks later, MediaCom appointed Dominc Guba to the position of global head of trading, reporting to Blomenkamp and Christian Schmalzl, chief operations and investment director of MediaCom.
A GroupM rep confirmed that the organization’s other major agency network, Mindshare, would create a similar post as well. It is a position that the shops see as critical. “It’s really about managing and coordinating those global client activities,” the rep said.
In addition to managing the agency’s worldwide media buying commitments, Hodge will participate in new business efforts, work with Maxus and GroupM teams across key markets and represent Maxus to media auditing companies and key media owners.
A GroupM veteran, Hodge is currently the firm’s EMEA trading director.
Commenting on the appointment, Clark said Hodge has “great experience and relationships that will help our clients get the most for their media investments.”
