Massport Names Shops

Four finalists have been named to compete against incumbent Greenberg Seronick O’Leary & Partners in the review for the ad account of the Massachusetts Port Authority.
Selected to contend for the business, which a client representative said has an annual budget of about $1 million, are CC and D Communications, Holland Mark Martin Edmund and Irma S. Mann, Strategic Marketing, all in Boston, and Harpell/Martins & Co. in Maynard, Mass.
The finalists will present speculative creative materials to Massport officials in April, with a final decision expected soon after, according to Joey Cuzzi, Massport’s director of communications. Cuzzi is the primary agency liaison and must sign off on the selection along with Massport’s board of directors.
The client’s agency contract is reviewed as a matter of course every three years, and the current competition does not reflect in a negative way on Greenberg Seronick’s performance. Massport’s current contract with the incumbent terminates at the end of June.
Greenberg Seronick’s new campaign for the client is a print effort that uses the tagline, “Logan International Airport. You’re in New England when you land.” Visuals include a pilgrim guiding a plane on a runway and a trapped lobster on a baggage carousel.
Along with touting the airport, the current assignment involves promoting the Port of Boston and other facilities operated by Massport.
All shops in the pitch have at least some government or destination-related experience. CC and D handles the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau; Holland Mark creates ads for the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism.
Irma S. Mann specializes in hotel and destination accounts and works on promotions for the city of Detroit. Harpell/Martins handles the account of United Water, a company that manages water resources for municipalities across the country.
