Martin Impresses Indianapolis Client

CHICAGO Delta Faucet Co. has awarded its $12 million account to Interpublic Group’s The Martin Agency, after only eight months at Havas’ Arnold.

The Richmond, Va., shop was a finalist in the review for the business that was awarded to Arnold in August 2004. The Boston shop declined comment.

“We feel that The Martin Agency will be a great partner for us,” said Charlie McTargett, senior director of brand marketing at the Indianapolis client. “We were very impressed with The Martin Agency’s capabilities and knowledge of our business during the review, and we’re excited about what they will be able to deliver for Delta.”

Delta considered independent shop Young & Laramore, Indianapolis, which handles the company’s Peerless and Brizo brands, but ultimately decided to move the account to Martin, according to McTargett. Miller Brooks, also in Indianapolis, will continue to handle trade advertising.

Delta last month broke a campaign that showed people using faucets in real-life situations, such as a girl in a rain slicker and fire hat shooting water from a pullout kitchen faucet at the ceiling. The ads continue the tagline, “Beautifully engineered.” That campaign was developed by Arnold, in conjunction with Young & Laramore and Delta’s former agency, IPG’s Campbell-Ewald.

Delta spent $12 million on advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
