SAN FRANCISCO–The Martin Agency on Monday closed their Bay Area office, displacing 11 employees, a company representative said.

Agency representatives said that the decision was based on the slow business climate. Six of the 11 employees are being offered jobs in Martin’s New York and Richmond, Va. office.

“We put together a great team at the worst time,” agency representative Dean Jarrett said.

The office opened last spring in part to service Charles Schwab’s $10 million women’s initiative.
