SAN FRANCISCO MapQuest has entered into an agreement with Google to include the search-engine company’s relevant paid or “sponsored” links on its site.

The 26 million monthly users of MapQuest will now begin seeing relevant paid Google listings for entertainment, lodging, restaurants and events when they request maps and directions. The partnership takes effect today.

A representative for Google in Mountain View, Calif., said the partnership would extend the reach for Google’s 100,000-plus advertisers.

Although terms of the deal were not disclosed, MapQuest, based in Denver, will share the advertising revenue when visitors click on a sponsored link from its site.
