Makos to Shine Lone Star Image

DALLAS Independent Makos Advertising, Marketing & Design has won the Lone Star Beer advertising account after a review, the agency said.

Makos in Austin, Texas, was one of five agencies vying to represent the 65-year-old brand that is part of the Pabst Brewing Co. based in San Antonio. The names of the other contenders were not disclosed.

“Makos impressed us with their focused approach and their knowledge of the brand,” said Craig Christenson, brand manager at Pabst. “They also offered creative marketing ideas that really went beyond traditional advertising and marketing.”

The Lone Star campaign will launch in June and will feature outdoor and television advertising in key markets as well as guerilla marketing tactics that focus on the heritage of the brand, the agency said.

Billings were undisclosed.

Makos clients include Dell, Nascar, Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo, STOPzilla and Texadelphia.
