Temperatures have soared as high as 107 degrees near Phoenix lately, while a fierce weather phenomenon known as a “firenado” hit the outskirts of Los Angeles last week.

No surprise, then, that consumers in those cities were pleased to see a rainstorm in the middle of a sweltering late summer. Never mind that it was manufactured precipitation or that it spanned only a 16-foot-by-17-foot space.

A steady stream of overheated passersby took turns standing in the specially created booth—part of a stunt for Visit Seattle—and no one asked for an umbrella.
