Lycos Plays the Field for World Cup

NEW YORK Lycos didn’t let a lack of World Cup rights dampen its enthusiasm for the soccer tournament. The Internet portal instead decided to present an irreverent and behind-the-scenes look at the world’s most-watched sporting event.

A highlight of this content is “Balls Show,” which features lively first-person accounts from reporters in the field (created in conjunction with students from Emerson College’s television, radio and film production department in Boston) that examines the lighter side of sports fanaticism.

Lycos TV takes a look at the culture behind the event by capturing the atmosphere surrounding the World Cup.

The site also showcases over-the-top soccer footage gathered from around the world, while featuring alternative blogs and slide shows.
