Lowe Group grabs young Saatchi exec

The Lowe Group has poached the young head of a Saatchi & Saatchi group in London to drive its North American operation.
Paul Hammersley, 31, becomes The Lowe Group’s senior vp/client services and new business. He will be the stateside complement to Chris Harris, the Bartie Bogle Hegarty executive who joined The Lowe Group in April.
Hammersley will be based in New York, within the Lowe & Partners offices, although he will be working directly for The Lowe Group, reporting to its chairman Frank Lowe. His job description includes running and developing business for Lowe’s overseas operations from U.S.based clients, including IDV, Coca-Cola and Hanson.
Frank Lowe himself had been heading the American side of the group’s operations, although he has been searching for someone to fill the role for the last year.
“We are extremely pleased that Paul is joining us,” Lowe said. “The U.S. is an important multinational business base. Paul’s skills will be invaluable to us in developing existing and potential international business.”
Hammersley, who joins the group next month, said he could not resist the opportunity of working with Lowe in the U.S. “I’ve been hankering to go to the States for a long time,” Hammersley said. “In this business it is becoming increasingly important to experience working with Americans first hand.”
Hammersley joined Saatchi as a trainee account executive nine years ago, at the beginning of his working life. He has since moved up through the ranks, and was most recently group director and executive board member. His account group, one of five at Saatchi, handled Carlsberg Tetley, Vodafone, Anchor and Harvey’s Bristol Cream.
